Amy Johnson

My idea for my Amy Johnson project was to show information about her and her journey. I first made a few designs before deciding on how I wanted her to look. I also tried collaging her in with a map and train tickets, I liked at how the map turned out since it looks clearer.

My idea was to animate her getting to her plane, then she would fly the same route she took. The way she would fly would look similar to how it looks in the Indian Jones map part. It would also show some of the different things she did while she was doing this, such as when she met new people or had to fix her plane

These are a few test ideas of how she would move

As part of our The Aesthetics & Symbolism in the Scene/Scenario brief    ( we had to choose one of the following characters/setting. I decided on the sins and festival street performance. After doing research (some on my Aesthetics and Symbolism blog) I started on design ideas and movement ideas. These are how they turned out. envy gluttony greed lust pride slothwrath

At a later date we were given a slightly different take on this, I had to pick 2 sins and they were to confront each other in a room. I choose Sloth and Wrath. After some ideas I chose to main sloth, the reason why I picked Sloth over Wrath was because I found that Sloth had a lot more interesting ways to create and play around with. It also was the one that I could come up with more interesting takes on how the sin could look. I am now practicing on how to draw some of the more less human parts. The goat legs and the body shapes of Sloths. These are some of the drawings. slothdrawing goat-legs1 goat-legs-2

Non Fiction Ideas

For my non fiction I choose to do a timeline of events both bad and good that has happened in the world. After choosing the time period (2000-2010) I began looking at the events and cut them down. I then changed some events again so I would have more balance of good and bad. I have also looked at different ways of how I could create this into a animation. One if my ideas was to use some kind of shadow silhouette based idea, that idea devoloped into this
boxidea1 The idea was to have 3 layers one in the front back and middle, the front had all the important stuff happening while the back had the dates and times. The middle was going to either add on the one event or act as another but less important one.
Another idea is this one boxidea2 It was going to be split into 3 parts and act similer to the 24 split screan effect.
The idea for this one boxidea3 is that it starts with a set amount of boxs and the events show in the boxs. As the years pass the boxes with either gain a few or lose some depending on how many events are showing.
This one boxidea4 is the events and times are gently falling down, I got this kind of idea from Zelda Wind Wakers credits (4mins 5secs

This is just a close up of what will be seen in the chosen idea boxidea5

Food vendor final

Once I had done the planing I drew the sides, front and back, I also made a basic idea of how this would work/move around.

The idea of how this works is that since its themed, it will have anime themed food (mainly movies but series as well). It will work similar to how it does when it's easter or christmas. A example would be that if the film/series had noodles being eated all the time, a theme ect then that's what it would sell.

Food vendor idea drawings

After looking around at other food vendors, I started to think of what do. For a while I couldn’t really think of what I was going to do, so I figured i’d draw some stuff I thought of and then go from there. After that I picked one of my themes, I went for the anime one because I thought that would be the most fun. I did the drawings doing a few things like sitting and walking away so I could put them on the truck. I also did quick scetches to see how it might turn out, this also made me decided to instead of having the characters in full view on the back to have them cut off a bit.

Timed drawing

We drew different drawings while given a set time. The first bit was simple stuff like shapes but we didn’t have long to draw them. As the drawings become bigger (like a dinosour drinking tea) we were given more time. After that we were asked to pick something we had to draw and make it into a character. I decided on the Saw, Hammer and Nails.

Fox walking rope

We have been asked to create an animation from a person/animal and show them doing something. I’m doing a fox walking a slack-rope. The first thing I’ve done for this is look at different foxes both real and animated, this was mainly to see the tail movement as that will be the main focus. I have done quick drawings of the tail moving left to right and up and down. I’ve also looked at how it would look standing and on all fours and made little mini models to help with any movements.

What I found (from Youtube)
Spike meets fox
Desiny Robin Hood
A fox tail (the start and ending)
The fox hunt (Donald and Goofy cartoon)

Using flash I tested out tail movements. Ive also added the tail of choice onto the fox as well as make it move on a rope. It looks a little stiff but thats because I wanted to see how it looked moving across.

Life/object drawing

Just some drawings I did a while ago, they are of both people and objects.

People from while I was waiting and on the train. Most of these are unfinished because when both the train and people move it can be a pain. train-people-1

These were objects that were placed on a table

Done around the class

With this one I tried to do four different medias.
