For this project we have to create a TV ad. We pick one scenario we thought of before and work on that. I didn’t known which one I wanted to do, out of one from the basement and the found object. So I gave both of them a quick idea, using the basement idea with the chocolate and the found object with Breakfast Cereal. Once going over the ideas it was clear which one I wanted to try and that research needed to be done. I have picked the cereal/found object one. Another thing that was discussed was how to animate this, so I looked at the work of Garri Bardin. A example of his work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkxJj3pVshY
I’m also thinking of using the style by PSE which has done adverts such as this one.

While looking into these ceareal ads I have found that a lot of them like to add singing in, they also make sure to praise the product a lot. They encourage the viewer by saying things such as your kids will only love this or that it can help you lose weight etc. The ones that have been going on for years such as Kellogg’s have also gained a well known mascot (Tony the Tiger)

Here are some examples I found while researching

Non Fiction – Boxes

For my non fiction, I have chosen the events and how I plan to create it. I will be using the box idea. First I decided on which box I wanted to use, this was done by getting different types and testing them. The first thing I noticed about these is that the plastic one is not photogenic, you can barely see it when a photo is taken. This is why straight away I knew it wouldn’t work in this project since the box had to be seen. boxtry1

Also while deciding on the type of box I wanted to use, I tested to see how they would move. Since the boxes moved when the year changed this was important to figure out. It also helped me by showing me how the chosen box would move and how it would be animated.
After trying these out I have decided which one I would like to use. The reason I chose the first box idea is because I felt like that would work out better in capturing the idea of time since it drops in and has more sense of direction rather then the stiffness the other ones gave.

Context

Context is important, there is a lot to think about when you enter the world of work and take on clients. One of the important matters you need to go though is the contrack. You don’t want to agree to anything that you disagree with, another consideration is know what your client wants. If they ask you to do a dog in a dress with a funny hat, then that is what you have to do. You can suggest ideas to the person however it is in your best interest to not upset them. You also need to build up a good repatation, you need to prove that you are the one for the job. This means that if you are going to be late, change of plans or you can’t be in contect for reasons then you need to let them know. Something else that you need to know is that you shouldn’t do the job for free, you should always get paid for the job you have done. Understand the copyright laws and know what does and doesn’t belong to you (make sure you get the correct one as diffrent contrys in the world differ). Another facter you have to remenber is if you create a character don’t try to use the same design for different compaines, this could cost you and result in both places telling you your not fit for the job.

A lot has to be thought about in this area, such as Show Reals and Festivals. Show reals are a great way to show your work and let people see what you are capable of. They can show anything ranging from character movement, to showing how they made the work to even images of the concept. Depending on what you want to show your audience is what you choose and how you present it. Music can be important in the real, it helps set the tone and can make it more enjoyable to watch. When showing your real, you should include your created characters and environments. Festivals are basically competitions you enter, it helps you get noticed plus its great practice for deadlines and knowing what to people want (and doing it). When entering you have to read the rules and agree to them. You should remember if they want it a certain time length, entry fees (if any), animation style you have to work with, your deadline, where and how are you getting there if you need to go, what formats they accept, can you enter in one or more category’s. They may even ask for subtitles depending on the location.

A contract might seem easy but it can cause you trouble if your not careful. A contract is a agreement, between the people taking part in the project. Make sure you don’t work for nothing, meaning that if something like the project being cancelled halfway though happened you would have some sort of payment. If your making the contract, word your words carefully. If your not then read though it carefully.

Non Fiction Ideas

For my non fiction I choose to do a timeline of events both bad and good that has happened in the world. After choosing the time period (2000-2010) I began looking at the events and cut them down. I then changed some events again so I would have more balance of good and bad. I have also looked at different ways of how I could create this into a animation. One if my ideas was to use some kind of shadow silhouette based idea, that idea devoloped into this
boxidea1 The idea was to have 3 layers one in the front back and middle, the front had all the important stuff happening while the back had the dates and times. The middle was going to either add on the one event or act as another but less important one.
Another idea is this one boxidea2 It was going to be split into 3 parts and act similer to the 24 split screan effect.
The idea for this one boxidea3 is that it starts with a set amount of boxs and the events show in the boxs. As the years pass the boxes with either gain a few or lose some depending on how many events are showing.
This one boxidea4 is the events and times are gently falling down, I got this kind of idea from Zelda Wind Wakers credits (4mins 5secs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgsX8rxZaPU)

This is just a close up of what will be seen in the chosen idea boxidea5
